On one of my trips to Crex last January, I came upon a fairly large swath of dried Sedge Grasses and while the light was not real sunny the contrasts with the scrub oaks and their rusty brown leaves makes for a dynamic image to paint.

I prepared my 9" x 12" x 3/4" stretched canvas using my special coating then sketching followed by my Artisan Oils. My paints are alizarin crimson, ultra marine blue, cadmium orange, lemon yellow, burnt Sienna and yellow ochre with titanium white. The sky is cloudy and adds to this mood and the rustic oaks too add their specials colors. The remaining sedge grasses in January are still beautiful and full of colorful impact and life.

        Thanks be.
